It seems that this time of year we get motivated or feel pressure to put our lives, body and/or homes in order.  Well, that’s all well and good, but lest us not forget we are accidental housewives and our New Year’s resolution is to celebrate our coming out of our broom closets and admitting that we fear, loathe or have no interest in doing our housewifely tasks to perfection.  So what follows are 15 simple organizing ideas that you can do in five minutes or less that will satisfy your fleeting desire to bring order to your lives and won’t cause you to break any nails:

1. Sort through mail

2. Chuck junk mail

3. Throw old magazines away

4. Stack magazines you’re keeping

5. Edit kitchen countertop

6. Fill dishwasher

7. Empty garbage

8. Clean junk drawer in kitchen

9. Chuck expired meds in your bathroom cabinet

10. Put toys in container

11. Pay a bill or two

12. Put shoes away

13. Clear night tables

14. Put jewelry away

15. Pour yourself another cup of coffee so you have the energy to take another five and do more stuff!
